Qualifying Courses (Pre-university)
Qualifying courses are pre-university level courses that allow you to acquire the skills, abilities, and knowledge you need to be accepted into your program of choice and help you succeed in your studies at Université Laval.
These courses are designed to prepare you for most programs offered at Université Laval, and their content has been chosen to meet the admission requirements for these programs. Taking these courses in a university environment will help ease your integration into the program you wish to take.
The courses take place in class or online. Some courses may require high school level prerequisites.
Target clientele
The qualifying courses are relevant to you if you are in one of these three situations:
- You are a mature applicant. You can submit an admission form at Université Laval in an undergraduate program. In that case, you may have to complete qualifying courses in an unlimited enrolment program. The list of qualifying courses you may have to take and pass could vary depending on the program.
- You hold a college diploma (DEC) or equivalent but lack certain knowledge for admission to a specific program, or are changing programs. If you are not already accepted in a program, you have to submit an application form for non-degree studies - pre-university level.
- You have studied outside of Québec and hold a pre-university diploma that is not equivalent to a DEC, but adds up to 12 years of education. You can submit an admission form at Université Laval in a unlimited enrolment undergraduate program. In that case, a 30-credit qualifying year will be requested. The list of qualifying courses you may have to take and pass could vary depending on the program.
