Université Laval human research ethics committees

Mission

The mission of the sectoral committees is to protect the rights and physical and psychological integrity of individuals who agree to participate in research conducted by Université Laval faculty, researchers, students, and research staff.
The mission of the university research ethics committee (CUÉR) is to foster the development of an ethical research culture that ensures the dignity of research participants is respected within the university community.

Mandate

The sectoral research ethics committees assess the compliance of UL research projects involving human subjects both before and during implementation, with the exception of projects that are carried out in affiliated institutions.
The sectoral committees are supported by the university research ethics committee, which coordinates and synchronizes their work and provides ongoing training for members.
