Université Laval Students Win Global Business Challenge

Québec City, October 2, 2018 – A team of students from the Faculty of Business Administration at Université Laval (FSA ULaval) won the 2018 Global Business Challenge, an international business case competition held a few days ago in Brisbane, Australia. The FSA ULaval delegation beat out 134 teams representing 57 universities in 25 countries.

The 2018 challenge was to develop novel and sustainable solutions through the application of smart technologies and new business models to improve the safety and well-being of the public in urban environments.

The FSA ULaval team, composed of students Andreea Milasan, Lucie Lahaye, and François-Olivier Côté, took home the top prize with their idea for a platform to decompartmentalize various municipal programs and implement a reward system for citizens who adopt eco-responsible behaviours. They also put forward a business model and a comprehensive international marketing plan for the platform.

The FSA ULaval team competed in the final round against teams from a number of prestigious business schools, including Carnegie Mellon University in the U.S. and the European School of Management and Technology in Germany.

The three team members will share a prize worth $25,000.
